Paramount recently released a short teaser trailer of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek XI showing the Enterprise being built, with a brief voice-over by Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy!

The teaser doesn’t really show us much, but that’s precisely why it’s so good. It merely hints at what is to come, allowing our imaginations to fill in the rest. The trailer shows us construction crews working on the immense exterior of what will become the USS Enterprise, while audio clips from various space-related events in history—JFK’s famous moon speech, Apollo 11 landing—play in the background. Finally, a brief clip of Leonard Nimoy enunciating that line we all know so well!

Written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, Star Trek XI stars Chris Pine (Smokin’ Aces) as James T. Kirk, Karl Urban (Pathfinder) as Leonard McCoy, Zachary Quinto (Heroes) as Spock—“Young Spock” technically, since Leonard Nimoy will be reprising his role as “Old Spock”—and features Eric Bana (Hulk, Troy) as the villain, Nero.

Star Trek XI is scheduled to be released December 25, 2008.
