Spartans Come Back to Life in 300 Sequel
Director Zack Snyder in talks with writer/artist Frank Miller about the next chapter in the lives of the Spartans.
In Hollywood, those kinds of numbers can only mean one thing…sequel!
So, where is it?
According to a recent interview, Snyder confirmed that he has had conversations with Frank Miller, writer/artist of the original 300 mini-series, and that the sequel will be based upon a follow-up graphic novel, which Miller will create.
Snyder said that he will have no input into Miller’s graphic novel—and doesn’t want any—and that the story will take place between the Battle of Thermopylae and the Battle of Plataea.
Fans of the film will remember that Dilios (played by David Wenham) tells the story of King Leonidas and the 300 Spartans’ fall to a throng of soldiers to inspire them to victory:
"And so my king died, and my brothers died, barely a year ago. Long I pondered my king's cryptic talk of victory. Time has proven him wise, for from free Greek to free Greek, the word was spread that bold Leonidas and his three hundred, so far from home, laid down their lives. Not just for Sparta, but for all Greece and the promise this country holds. Now, here on this ragged patch of earth called Plataea, Xerxes's hordes face obliteration!"
Snyder has said that he will be directing the sequel and that he eagerly anticipates Miller’s graphic novel.
