Gaunt Shadows
In preparation for his role as vampire Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows, Johnny Depp is reportedly trying to lose significant weight, bringing him down to about 140 pounds.
Reports Britain's The Sun, "Johnny Depp is on permanent tea duty at the moment. The movie hero is making regular brews as he prepares for his new vampire flick Dark Shadows. He needs to shift several stone for the part and is doing it by sinking gallons of green tea. Johnny is aiming to get down to 10st so he looks as gaunt as possible - and he's got to put up with this diet from hell for another couple of months before shooting starts in April."
If the film follows the storyline of the '60s soap, Barnabas will be inadvertently released from his sealed coffin after having been trapped there for over two centuries. One would think the actor wants Barnabas to be as emaciated as possible when he first arises. No question that Depp is taking the role seriously.
