Dwayne Johnson to Star in "Journey" Sequel

According to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision column, the producers of the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D have enlisted the star power of Dwayne Johnson to replace Brenden Fraser, who couldn't star due to scheduling conflicts.
Interestingly, rather than continue the scenario as a tradition sequel might, the creatives have turned to another Jules Verne Novel, this one being Mysterious Island. In fact, the film is to be called Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

Writes Heat Vision, "Brad Peyton is on board to direct the film, in which Josh Hutcherson will reprise his role as burgeoning explorer Sean Anderson. Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson of Contrafilm are producing... Johnson will play the boyfriend of Hutcherson's mom, who Hutcherson is forced to bring on a trip to a mythical and monstrous island to find his missing grandfather... Three other characters will be introduced in the movie and cast during the next few weeks. Production is eyeing a late October start in North Carolina and Hawaii."
