Dexter Slays Its Own Records
Dexter made its sixth season premiere last night, and anyone who may have been put off by a somewhat contrived fifth season was surely in for some good news; good news which has also translated into ratings growth.
For starters, last year was the first in which the show was not completely riveting. While still extremely strong, in many ways it became standard television fare, which is something Dexter has avoided from the beginning. But last night's sixth season premiere has already proven the point that Dex is back and that this year is going to soar!
And that's certain true of the ratings as well, with EW.com reporting, "Dexter has been a ratings marvel for Showtime, bucking the usual TV pattern and growing every season. Sunday’s sixth season opener was no exception: Dexter returned to 2.2 million viewers — up 24 percent from last year and ranking as the show’s biggest opening yet."
Welcome back, Dex!
