Meet The NEW Three Stooges
Sean Penn, Jim Carrey and Benicio del Toro get to take their turn as the most recent accident prone, eye gouging, punch in the face trio of the Three Stooges
We all knew this day was coming. This could be cinematic gold or turn into complete rubbish, but IESB is reporting what Variety has announced:
"Ok, Sean Penn, Jim Carrey and Benicio del Toro walk into a bar with a poodle under one arm and a two foot salami under the other. They lay the poodle on the table. Bartender says, "I suppose you won't be needing a drink." And Carrey says, "Nyuk nyuk nyuk..."
Variety has announced the trio will be starring in the upcoming THREE STOOGES film. Production is said to start in early fall for a 2010 release.
MGM and the Farrelly brothers are closing in on their cast for "The Three Stooges."
Studio has set Sean Penn to play Larry, and negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Curly, with the actor already making plans to gain 40 pounds to approximate the physical dimensions of Jerome "Curly" Howard.
The studio is zeroing in on Benicio Del Toro to play Moe.
The film is not a biopic, but rather a comedy built around the antics of the three characters that Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Howard played in the Columbia Pictures shorts."
I think watching a fat Jim Carrey poke people in the face and smack them in the chops will be hilarious. Benicio Del Toro to play Moe falling off a ladder is a great casting choice as well as Sean Penn as Larry. If this film is done right it could be very successful. If there are too many creative liberties going on behind the scenes then I fear this film will end up like the most recent version of The Honeymooners.
